WW1 Brits

WW1 Brits

As this year marks the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One, I did some Brits from that era. This is more a painting project than anything I’ve concrete plans to play with.

The figures themselves are from Great War Miniatures – Aly Morrison and Dave Andrews (a couple of names that gamers of a certain age will no doubt recognise). The castings left a lot to be desired; tons of flash and massive mould lines in very prominent places. The sculpts are fantastic though, with bags of character, great detail and poses.

This batch is from the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) of 1914. These were the standing army, the professional soldiers, rather than Kitchener’s volunteers. I plan to paint a few of those in 2016 for the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.

Most of the range are single-piece castings, which makes them great to paint up quickly. I plan to do a couple of rilfe sections (each of 12 men plus and NCO) and a few officers.
